Processes profiles

Using the Processes type of Monitoring profile, you have the ability to monitor and notify on processes based on their state and usage. You can notify when a process has started, stopped, is not responding, or consumes too much processing power.

Profile configuration settings
In Process Notifications, select if you want to enable or disable notifications when a process meets one of the conditions you define in Processes. You can also choose to defer to agent settings. If deferring to agent settings, refer to Enabling notifications for process or application monitoring.
Click Import from Running Processes to select a device and import one or more processes from the running processes on that device.
Once the process is imported, click Next and configure the Condition section to select which process activity will trigger a notification as well as the Notification Settings to set the notification priority.
Once fully configured, click Create to add the process to the profile.
Click Import from File to import process files direct from a device. You will be able to navigate the file system of the device to find the file.
Once the file is selected, click Next and configure the Condition section to select which process activity will trigger a notification, as well as the Notification Settings to set the notification priority.
Once fully configured, click Create to add the process to the profile.
Click Add Process to manually add a process to monitor.
Enter in the process name, and define the process path using the Take into account the process path option if necessary.
Then, configure the Condition section to select which process activity will trigger a notification as well as the Notification Settings to set the notification priority.
Once fully configured, click Create to add the process to the profile.
How to...
To create a Processes profile, complete the following steps:
- From the left navigation menu in VSA 10, navigate to Configuration > Profiles.
- The Profiles page will load. At the top of the page, click New Profile.

The Create New Profile page will load.
- In the Name section, enter a name for the profile.
- Optionally, enter information about the profile in the Description section.
- In the Profile Type section, select Processes underneath Monitoring.
- Optionally, assign relevant tags in the Content Tag section.
- Click Next.
- Customize the profile to your needs. Reference the Profile configuration settings section, if needed.
- When you've finished customizing the profile, click Create.
Next, you'll need to create a policy that defines the devices to which you'd like to automatically apply your configuration. Complete the following steps:
- Navigate to Configuration > Policies. Create a new policy or edit an existing policy.
- Click Assign Profile.
- Locate the profile you'd like to use. Select it by clicking the radio button next to its name.
- Click Assign.
- VSA 10 will begin enforcing the selected profile immediately. You can view it in effect at Configuration > Policies.
