Directly from the VSA 10 web application, you can deploy Datto BCDR backup and disaster protection to VSA 10 Agents and view backup statuses.

The highlights of this integration include the following:

  • Deployment of the Datto BCDR client to eligible VSA 10 Agents.
  • Visibility of detailed backup statuses for Datto BCDR-protected VSA 10 Agents.
  • Contextual deep links to Datto BCDR portals from VSA 10.
  • Datto BCDR activity logged in the VSA 10 Audit Log. Refer to Audit Log.

Mapping Datto appliances to VSA 10 sites allows you to deploy the Datto BCDR protection agent using VSA 10. Once configuration is finalized in the Datto portal, you can view backup statuses and health directly in VSA 10. You can also navigate directly to the Datto portal using contextual deep links from VSA 10.

Requirements

VSA 10 protected devices must be able to communicate directly to the Datto BCDR appliance to complete the configuration and to perform backups.

Configuration steps

  1. Add a Datto portal.
  2. Map BCDR devices to VSA 10 sites.
  3. Protect VSA 10 Agents with BCDR. VSA 10 installs the BCDR client component on the VSA 10 Agent, but you must do further manual configuration in the Datto BCDR portal to complete the configuration.
  4. Navigate to the Datto BCDR portal to complete the configuration of the protected agents. Refer to the documentation for system protection in the Datto BCDR Online Help.
  5. Check the agent health status.

Integration notifications

Datto BCDR failures and abnormal behaviors will generate VSA 10 notifications as follows:

  • Device Hardware Alert: Used to convey BCDR hardware failures. The notification priority is Critical for VSA 10.
  • Device Not Seen Alert: A device that has failed to poll for a defined threshold within a specified period of time. The notification priority is Elevated for VSA 10.
  • Sync Completion Alert: Notifies the user that the BCDR device has not completed a complete sync with the Datto server. The notification priority is Elevated for VSA 10.
  • High Local Activity Alert: This alert indicates that the amount of files growing on the device is abnormally high. The notification priority is Elevated for VSA 10.
  • Low Disk Space Alert: Used to indicate that a BCDR device is nearing its maximum capacity. The notification priority is Elevated for VSA 10.
  • External IP Alert: Used to inform you that the external IP address of the Datto device has changed. The notification priority is Low for VSA 10.
  • Deletion Alert: Used to indicate an abnormally high volume of file removals in the form of gigabytes on a particular device. The notification priority is Normal for VSA 10.
  • Protection Half Storage Alert: Used to inform users when Datto Alto or Siris devices are misconfigured. The notification priority is Normal for VSA 10.
